Candidate Statement

Hello, my name is Anna Marie Morales, and I am a North Star Progressive Democrat running to be a delegate for the California Democratic Party. As a lifelong resident of Mountain View for more than 40 years, I have a deep understanding of our community's issues and a passion for making a difference.

I became active in local and national politics in 2015, driven by my strong democratic values and a belief that it is never too late to take action and make a positive impact. Since then, I became involved in advocating for the rights and protections of the mobile home community as a core member of the Mountain View Mobile Home Alliance (MVMHA), where I eventually became a part of the steering committee.

In September 2021, MVMHA's years of advocacy finally achieved a significant victory for our community when the City of Mountain View passed a new and innovative rent stabilization ordinance protecting our vulnerable mobile home residents from unsustainable increases in their housing costs.

In addition to my work with the MVMHA, I am also deeply committed to issues of racial equity and disability rights. After a car accident in 2020, I became disabled and am keenly aware of the challenges and barriers faced by residents with disabilities. This experience fuels me to advocate for myself and others in our community.

My experiences, passion and dedication make me a strong candidate to be a delegate for the California Democratic Party. If elected, I will tirelessly represent our community's values and interests and make a positive difference in the lives of residents in our district and across our state. I gratefully ask for your vote and support, and thank you for your consideration. Please feel free to reach out to me at annamarie@ad23.vote.
